All work you complete needs to be archived in case customers want re-prints or alterations done.

Graphic images take up huge amounts of space and you need to find the best methods for saving images in a format that:

·         Is suitable image quality for the type of purpose

·         Is small in MB size (think about compression techniques)

·         Is the right resolution for the purpose

·         Has a suitable colour depth

You need to write an instruction guide for saving images for the purposes mentioned in P2.

So in conclusion a ‘how to save guide’ for:

1.     Internet graphics

2.     Large format graphics

3.     Leaflet suitable graphics

Your first 3 customers have given you quite different tasks:

·         A local band would like a logo designed for their website this needs to be combined with their band photo.

·         A builder wants some eye catching text for the side of his van to improve business opportunities.

·         The nursery on your estate would like a flyer designed to promote the facility.

What type of graphic will you create for each customer and what file format should be used?  Explain your answers.

  A local band would like a logo designed for their website this needs to be combined with their band photo- 

you would use bitmap as a JPEG of a gif on fireworks or abdobe photoshop as on these you are able to insert pictures, images and text for their logo. How ever if these get blown up to a large scale, they will get pixelated, but as its being used on the website it will be small

A builder wants some eye catching text for the side of his van to improve business opportunities-  

You can use the doby illustrator for this. This is good to use, the dots do not come up. When you want to englarge it will enlarge. This can be blown up to a large scale without being blurry or pixellated. It can be printed and cut out with a vinyl cutter and put on the van. 

 The nursery on your estate would like a flyer designed to promote the facility- 

combines text and images. You can send files, made in microsoft file. But this would mean the person you are sending it to has to have microsoft fie on there version, a current virsion. You turn that file into  PDF which means a portable document format, this would be a scanned document or a word file to e-mail.

The new imac		They are really expensive, they do not last a life time, there has also been some bad reviews about the speakers, most people will not be able to afford one.
Projector		Bulbs cost alot to replace, you have to keep it clean so it could work probably and you can get clearer picture.
Digital camera		The batteries will cost, as will the lens. you also have to buy a memory card so all the pictures can be installed.
Printer		The ink runs out very easily and to get colour its getting really expensive also it costs to print because of paper. they break easily

software- its very expensive and crash easily 

P1 UNIT 34

The new imac		27 inch, this would be needed a big screen so you can see stuff clearer, it will also be easier to use. The cost is £1499, this would be so dear because they spend millions promoting them on films. They are also advertised a lot, your paying for that when you buy one.  Just 5mm thin at its edge, the new iMac packs a remarkably powerful computer. The design industry tend to use the mac because they think it’s the best, by promoting them really heavily.
Projector		These would be helpful for graphic designers because they can show your work nice and clearer, also the size of the screen will help for long sited people, it is clear and they would be able to notice something wrong. Also you would not have to spend a large amount of money on a computer when you have a big screen.
Digital camera		These would be helpful so the graphic designers can take pictures of things they need, landscape or portrait, they can do editing aswell, so this can be helpful towards it. £199.00, this price would be because dearer the better, it will be a long lasting and a
Printer		Graphic designers would use this because it will print out the stuff you need and  so you can see the image clearer, aslo you know what your doing so once you have printed it out it will help. You can also print from your mac stuff which is very helpful.
